Shalom has accommodaion for up to 15 full-time residents and caters for an extra 10 respite residents at a time.
Shalom employs a team of caring and well trained staff. The high-needs residents require a high ratio of staff to resident. There are 2 nurses who work opposite shifts supported by a team of trained and compassionate caregivers, that provide 24 hour care. The general running of the centre is managed by a state registered nurse. There is also a social worker on call.
The main building that accommodates the Shalom residents is surrounded by 2 acres of land and open fields where residents, either independently or assisted by the staff, have the opportunity to take daily walks. There is a charming farmyard where residents can interact with the animals. For the more active, there is an adult sized play unit which they can enjoy.
In the grounds, there is a small chapel built from local stone and thatch, which is inter-denominational, with a stained glass window for each religion, signifying that Shalom embraces all cultures.
